Why does my new website show as blocked on my office network?
Don't worry — your website is live and visible to everyone on the internet. The block is coming from the network you're connected to, not from your website.
Why this happens
Many office and corporate networks use a security firewall (Sophos, Fortinet, Palo Alto and others) that automatically blocks websites whose domain names were registered recently. This category is usually called something like "Newly Registered Websites" and it exists as a phishing precaution, because most scam websites use brand-new domains. Since your property website's domain was just registered, it temporarily falls into that category.
The tell-tale signs are:
- The website loads fine on your phone (on cellular data) but not on your office computer.
- The block page shows the name of a security product (for example "Protected by Sophos") and mentions a category such as "Newly Registered Websites".
- Other people outside your office can open the website without any problem.
How to fix it
You have two options:
- Ask your network administrator to allow your domain. Whoever manages your office network can add your website's domain to the firewall's allow list, which fixes it immediately. Most block pages also include a link to suggest a different category for the website.
- Just wait. Your domain will automatically age out of the "newly registered" category, typically within a few weeks of registration, and the block will disappear on its own.
Is my listing affected?
No. Buyers and everyone outside your own office network can see your website the entire time, so your marketing is not affected. Nothing needs to change on your CRIBFLYER account or your website.
