Property Description

The Phineas Swann Inn & Spa is an eleven-guest room/suites country inn located in the Village of Montgomery Center at the base of Jay Peak and seven miles from the resort’s ski lifts and golf course. The original building was built circa 1850-1890 and completely renovated in 2005, with continued improvements to the entire building with physical plant upgrades and new bathrooms, flooring, beds, linens, and other amenities.

An additional building on the property, The River House, is located directly on the Trout River and has two of the inn’s suites. The wedding barn was renovated and enhanced two years ago and now offers wedding parties undercover seating, with lighting, heaters, and upgraded seating & tables. A small catering kitchen has also been added to easily serve wedding banquet meals.

The most significant improvement two years ago was the purchase, renovation, and startup of SpaVermont. The building at 122 River Street was completely gutted and reconstructed, offering both men’s and women’s bathrooms, two saunas, exercise equipment, a Peloton Bike, treatment rooms, and a relaxation room. The SPA includes a full-service nail salon featuring two pedicure stations and two manicure stations.  A new outdoor hot tub rounds out the beautiful addition of this building to the inn and enhances the guest experience while staying there.  All have been tastefully decorated in Vermont style.

During construction, an 11th room was added to the spa building, "The Retreat.” This one-bedroom retreat offers guests a picture-window view of the Trout River, a king-sized bed, a living room with a sofa that can be used as dual twin beds, a gas-log fireplace, and a private bath with both a large pedestal soaking tub and a walk-in multi-head shower.

Food service includes an extensive morning sideboard with breads, cereals, juices, yogurt, coffee, and tea, and a large selection of chopped fresh fruit. Hot gourmet breakfast dishes are served table side for inn guests with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Several large common areas for guests and very comfortable two-bedroom owner’s quarters exist. The inn’s kitchen has been updated and is highly functional and efficient, with an adjacent laundry area for the inn’s linens.

Other amenities include high-speed internet access, digital cable TV, DVD players, suites with Jacuzzi whirlpool baths, gas fireplaces, and all-day refreshments. The outdoor gardens are amongst the inn’s most attractive features, with outdoor lighting and music to enhance the guest experience.

The inn has enjoyed many positive reviews and press, and its web presence is an outstanding example of everything an inn's website should include.
