INTERIOR: This charming one-bed unit has a great layout. The living room area is spacious and receives lots of natural sunlight. At one end is a natural gas fireplace, perfect for cozy winter evenings. At the other end are sliding doors to an upper deck that overlooks a peaceful central green area. Welcome to Summerplace: Located within Portland city limits, Summerplace is an oasis of mature trees, sidewalks, walking paths, well maintained yards, and homes demonstrating pride of ownership. Residences include single family homes, condominiums and an Assisted Living facility.
Single Family Homes: The homes at Summerplace were developed between 1979 and 1990. There are 585 single-family one-story and two-story homes featuring spacious floor plans with master suites on the main level. The homes range from approximately 1,000 to over 2,100 square feet of living space and offer one to three bedrooms, one- and-a-half to three bathrooms and an attached one or two-car garage. These open floor plans offer residents desirable features like fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, private patios and beautiful landscaping.
With over 20 floorplans, there is a variety of homes within Summerplace to suit every style.
Condominiums: Summerplace contains two Condominium complexes, Glenwood Place and Windsor Place. Each complex includes a variety of floorplans. There are a total of 222 units.
Assisted Living: Summerplace Community Healthcare LLC operates Columbia Place Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities.

Summerplace Clubhouse: At the center of the community is the well appointed clubhouse. Homeowners have access to two exercise rooms for staying in their best shape. Socialization is made easy with a ballroom, two meeting rooms, and a billiards room. Residents can challenge a friend to a game of table tennis or shuffleboard or enjoy a leisurely afternoon in the library.

Glenwood Place: Glenwood has always been a part of the Summerplace community of active adults 55 and older, which includes single family homes. From the beginning, Glenwood has been governed by its own set of bylaws as well as the bylaws of Summerplace. Glenwood residents pay monthly homeowner association fees to Glenwood plus a once-a-year fee to Summerplace, which gives them access to the clubhouse, pool, tennis courts and many organized activities.
Glenwood elects its own volunteer board of directors that oversees compliance with our bylaws to maintain a safe and healthy community, landscaping, building maintenance and finances. Building representatives work to keep communication open among neighbors and board members. Glenwood has always operated with volunteers instead of hiring a management company. This keeps homeowner association fees more reasonable than many other condo complexes, which is good for residents as well as home resale values.
Some Glenwood owners are retired; others are still working. Glenwood has its own community garden where a few residents grow vegetables and often share with neighbors. Residents are often seen chatting at the mailboxes or while walking dogs. When Glenwood residents pass by in their vehicles, they welcome you with a friendly wave. Sometimes potlucks or ice cream socials are held on the “courtyard,” the favorite Glenwood party spot.
Yes, it’s 40 years and counting at Glenwood Place. Volunteers continue to manage the property and look out for one another. It is a friendly community and a great place to call home.
